Becoming a leader requires adopting new behaviors, new ways of functioning, new ways of animating and facilitating the work of one’s team. A leader connects not only to his/her team but also to his/her organization as a whole in order to carry out his/her mission and projects.

Increasing confidence in one’s leadership requires the acquisition of new skills in order to increase one’s ability to act as a leader.

The new skills we are talking about are intra-personal or self-knowledge skills. Knowing what motivates us, what drives us to act and decide, knowing our resources and recognizing our self-sabotage behaviors are undeniable assets to act in self-awareness.

In the backpack of new skills are also team management skills. The life of a team is punctuated by moments with very different, yet anticipatable needs and responses.

Knowing the different ways of responding to these needs helps to develop this famous confidence in one’s leadership.

Observing who is in the team is also a skill to be developed in order to understand the capacities and needs of each team member. A leader is also a developer of potentials because the best way to avoid the performance of his/her team is to favor the status quo.
